How we work

Most of our clients have never worked with an architect before. Here is what happens, how long each part takes and roughly what it costs, so you can tell early on whether we are the right fit.

Six stages, one team

The same architect takes you from the first visit to the day you move in.

01Free, an hour or two

First visit

We come to the site, walk it with you and talk about what you want, what it might cost and what the planners are likely to say.

022 to 4 weeks

Feasibility

A short study of the site, the planning history and two or three ways the house could sit. A fixed fee, and you can stop here.

036 to 8 weeks

Concept design

Sketches, a card model and a first cost check with a quantity surveyor, until the plan and the look feel right to you.

048 to 16 weeks

Planning

We write the application, meet the case officer and the parish, and take sensitive schemes to design review first.

058 to 12 weeks

Technical design

Construction drawings, the specification and Building Regulations, then a tender to two or three builders we trust.

06Until handover

On site

We visit every fortnight, check the work, agree any changes and sign off each payment to the builder.
